Trek cycle cross country tourThis cycling adventure starts in Wodonga at the biggining of The High Country Rail Trail “Branch Line” and finishes at Albury after crossing the Lake Hume road bridge.
The Wodonga, Tallangatta, Cudgewa, a historic Branch Line is rich in heritage. The line has been partly converted into the High Country rail trail from Wodonga past Tallangatta to Cudgewa then along the cycle trail to Corryong.
From Wodonga the rail trail travels along the fore shore of the Hume weir over the recent rebuilt the sandy creek bridge to Tallangatta from where the railway line wends onwards and upwards, passing the old Tallangatta site and the Omeo highway turn-off, then the trail leaves the lake edge passing through the farming communities of Bullioh, Koetong, (famous for its historic pub and historic railway trestle bridges, built circa 1915) and the plantation township of Shelley whose railway station was once the highest in Victoria. This remote rail trail from Old Tallangatta to Cudgewa then joins with the cycle trail to Corryong via a back road to Colac Colac.
